Better Studio 3.18 Release notes

3.18.0 (23.09.2026)​

Better Studio 3.18 is all about Voice to form, a Form builder plugin that brings dictation and ambient scribing to clinical forms. The release also brings a substantial round of interface and stability work across Form builder, Form renderer, and Studio as a whole, as well as improvements to Bea, our AI assistant in AQL builder.

Better Studio 3.18.0 is compatible with Form renderer version 3.18.0.

Form builder​

Voice to form plugin is here!​

Capturing structured clinical data takes time at the point of care. With that in mind, we are adding a new AI-enabled Form builder plugin: Voice to form.

You can add Voice to form to any clinical form, then configure and connect it to your own AI tooling. As a Studio user, you have full control of when and where AI gets involved. We have made it possible for you to set up which input fields can be filled by AI in the AI processing settings. Fields that must be completed deliberately by a human can simply be marked as non-AI-fillable. Once your clinical form is tested and activated in production, clinicians can use Voice to form to record speech instead of filling the form manually.

The end-user experience is simple: once a clinician is done with their voice recording, they can review and edit the transcript produced by AI before confirming it. The collected information is then mapped directly into the form and its fields.

All AI-filled form fields are marked with the BDS magic variant, so clinicians and patients can see which values were generated with the help of AI. Every value still remains editable prior to the final submission.

With Studio 3.18, Voice to form supports two AI services: Soniox and Microsoft Azure.

Bug fixes & improvements​

Versions 3.14 and earlier no longer receive updates or security patches. We continue to support a year's worth of Studio releases: Studio 3.15, 3.16, 3.17, and 3.18.

Studio​

  • ETL and Terminology editor now use the same add server dialog.
  • OAuth2 users can now see which tenant they are working in.
  • Navigating back now returns to the most recent state.
  • Minor style fixes across Studio and Project.

Form builder​

  • Users are now notified when another user has created a new version of the same form they are currently working on.
  • Improved template list performance with lazy loading, and improved the speed of opening form history for forms with many versions.
  • Minor user experience improvements when interacting with modal windows.
  • Fixed an issue where the collapse action no longer worked for templates.
  • Fixed an issue where some fields were editable or selectable when they should not have been.
  • Fixed incorrect sublist lettering on indented numbered lists in rich text.

Form renderer​

  • Script API can now output events through the renderer's global event dispatcher.
  • Fixed alignment of widgets inside a column list in BDS style.
  • Fixed a missing tooltip icon on DV_PARSABLE and BDS styling on PARTY_PROXY.

AQL builder​

  • Bea, our AI assistant in AQL builder, is now able to help you with JS views, even if your Studio setup is connected to an EHR server version lower than 4.x.
  • Fixed a broken instructions link.

ETL​

  • The Executions page now sorts executions by most recent first.

Form playground and Preview​

  • Fixed an issue where pressing Enter in an input field added or removed a container in a container-as-list field.
  • Fixed button group, radio, and checkbox column widths on mobile.

  • Added sticky headers to tables.
  • Updated the look of form labels to BDS style.

Form builder​

  • Fixed an issue where field action buttons could go off screen for fields in narrow columns.
  • Fixed the plugins search input.
  • Plugin and widget configuration changes are now reflected in an open preview.
  • Fixed an issue where changing the form and relaunching the preview stopped Voice to form from working correctly.
  • Voice to form configuration now requires at least one language hint.

Form renderer​

  • Voice to form now correctly fills other values in fields that allow them.
  • Imported transcripts in Voice to form are now editable.
  • Fixed an issue where Voice to form sometimes filled date and time fields with the wrong hour and the highlight disappeared from them shortly after.

Form playground and Preview​

  • Added a territory input to the playground and preview.

Bug fixes & improvements​

Studio​

  • Fixed an issue where project members could not log in to a project when the authorization server (Keycloak 26 and later) rejected the credentials with a 400 response instead of 401. The project login dialog now opens in both cases and shows the server's reason when the credentials are refused.
  • Form import now refuses a form with a missing name or an invalid version and explains why in the import notification. A project form list with an unreadable entry still loads and reports which forms were skipped.

Form renderer​

  • Added Dutch translations.
  • Corrected missing and wrong built-in translations in German, French, Italian, Greek, Norwegian, Slovene, Swedish, Finnish, Lithuanian, and Catalan.
