Marketplace

info

This content is intended for all Studio users.

The Marketplace is the shared content repository built into Better Studio. It gives you access to a curated library of reusable clinical building blocks (widgets, forms, templates, AQL views, bundles, plugins, and apps) that you can browse, install, and publish directly within your Studio environment.

The Marketplace sits at the intersection of two activities:

  1. Consuming ready-made content to accelerate your work.
  2. Contributing your own content to make it available to others.

Whether you are looking for a validated clinical form to adapt, a widget to visualise patient data, or a bundle of assets grouped around a specific care domain, the Marketplace is where you find and manage that content.

This section assumes you are familiar with Better Studio fundamentals. If you have not yet completed the Build in Studio section, start there first.

What the Marketplace contains

The Marketplace brings together several types of content, all versioned, documented, and organised into libraries.

Widgets are modular UI components that you install into forms to display, capture, or interact with clinical data. They are custom web components maintained independently of Studio, which means you can update a widget without updating Studio itself. Widgets are the most commonly installed content type and have their own preset system for saving configurations.

Templates define the clinical structure of health data using openEHR archetypes. They form the foundation for forms, views, and other components.

Forms are reusable assessments, scoring tools, and clinical documentation interfaces built in Better Studio from openEHR archetype-based templates. They are ready to adapt and deploy.

Bundles are curated collections of related forms, widgets, templates, and AQL views grouped around a shared clinical domain or workflow — for example, a cardiology bundle or an emergency care bundle.

AQL views are predefined Archetype Query Language statements that retrieve, filter, and structure clinical data from the CDR. They can be reused across widgets, data connectors, and other build components.

Apps are listed in the Marketplace as discoverable healthcare applications built on the Better platform. App listings include a description and a link to the app itself.

Accessing the Marketplace

You can reach the Marketplace from two locations within Studio.

From the Studio home screen: Select Marketplace from the main navigation. This gives you the full Marketplace interface, where you can browse all content types, manage libraries, and upload content.

From the Form builder: Open the Generics panel and select the Widgets tab. This takes you directly into the widget view of the Marketplace, so you can find and install a widget without leaving your form.

Both access points show the same content. The Form builder entry point is simply a contextual shortcut for widget installation during form development.

Public and private libraries

The Marketplace is organised into libraries. A library is a repository of content available to a specific group of members.

The public library contains content shared openly with all Studio users. This includes clinically validated forms, widgets, templates, and bundles published by Better and by verified contributors. Anyone with a Studio account can browse and install content from the public library.

Private libraries are shared repositories for specific organisations or teams. As a member of a private library, you can upload and modify content and invite additional members. Content in a private library is only visible to members of that library. Private libraries are useful for sharing work-in-progress content, organisation-specific assets, or content that is not yet ready for public distribution.

To request a new library or to carry out administrative actions beyond adding members and managing content, contact tools@better.care.

warning

When you edit documentation or widget presets in a library, your changes are visible to all members of that library. Take care when modifying shared content.

What is in this section

The Marketplace section is organised into five subsections:

  • Browsing and installing content: Searching, filtering, understanding content detail pages, and installing widgets and other content types.
  • Libraries: What libraries are, how to join one, and how to share and manage content within a library.
  • Widget presets: Saving widget configurations as presets, setting defaults, and uploading presets to the Marketplace.
  • Uploading content to the Marketplace: The upload flow, metadata, documentation, versioning, and supporting files.
  • Submission guidelines: Metadata requirements and documentation standards by content type.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What is the Marketplace?

The Marketplace is a content repository integrated into Better Studio. It gives users access to reusable clinical building blocks, including widgets, forms, templates, AQL views, and bundles, that can be installed into Studio projects and, for eligible contributors, published for others to use.

Do I need an account to access the Marketplace?

You can browse the public library without signing in. To install content, upload content, or access private library features, sign in using your Studio credentials. If a Marketplace account does not yet exist for your Studio credentials, one is created automatically on first sign-in.

What is the difference between the public library and a private library?

The public library is open to all Studio users and contains content shared by Better and verified contributors. Private libraries are scoped to specific organisations or teams. Only library members can see and interact with the content in a private library.

Can I browse the Marketplace without leaving the Form builder?

Yes. The Generics panel in the Form builder includes a Widgets tab that opens a contextual view of the Marketplace. You can search for, preview, and install widgets directly from there without navigating away from your form.

Which content types can I install from the Marketplace?

You can install widgets, templates, forms, bundles, and AQL views. Plugins are also available but managed separately. Apps listed in the Marketplace link to external applications and are not installed into Studio directly.

Can I contribute content to the Marketplace?

Yes, if you have the required permissions. Uploading content requires a Marketplace account and the appropriate library access. See Uploading content to the Marketplace for the full requirements.

Who should I contact if I need a new private library?

Contact tools@better.care to request a new library or for any administrative actions that go beyond adding members and managing content.
